Produced by DSS2016 and Ados Teatro, Lu eta Le opened on December 4 at the Victoria Eugenia Theater in San Sebastián. Bernardo Atxaga wrote the play and Juan Carlos Perez wrote the music. The idea behind the play, according to Atxaga (audio available at Euskadi Irratia, in Basque), is not to move the audience but to help them understand Lourdes Iriondos and Xabier Letes lives and the society that surrounded them. The themes addressed in the play include death, love and the long years during which our society lived in conflict.
In the play, Atxaga views the world of Xabier Lete and Lourdes Iriondo through his own lens. The text, which uses nonconventional dramatic language, is a kaleidoscope of scenes and fragments of scenes about both figures. Atxagas text, Perezs music, and the direction of Garbi Losada present a theatrical structure and an abstract musical score and that eschew traditional approaches and instead presents a quest based on formal and textual nakedness.
