For the past ten years, the University of Neuchâtel, through the Spanish Narrative Research Center and with the support of the Spanish Ministry of Culture, the Spanish Embassy, and la Académie Suisse de Sciences Humaines et Sociales, has been putting on a series of international conferences known as Grand Séminaire de Neuchâtel, and whose proceedings are published by Madrid-based publisher Arco / Libros as part of its “Cuadernos de Narrativa” collection.
Over the years, the conferences have been devoted to writers such as Javier Marías, Luis Mateo Díez, Enrique Vila-Matas, Álvaro Pombo, Antonio Muñoz Molina and Julio Llamazares. This years conference will center on Bernardo Atxaga and his work. It will be the first time that an author who publishes in languages other than Spanish will be recognized.
From March 23-March 25, the conference will see over ten specialists speak about the Basque writer. The events program can be found at the University of Neuchâtels website (PDF, 2,3 Mb).
