“Pirpo and Chanberlán, Murderers” was first published in Basque in the novel The Accordionist’s Son (Soinujolearen Semea, Pamiela, 2003), and this year the short story was re-published in English as a stand-alone piece in The Paris Review, one of the most prestigious English-language literary magazines.
After being published in The Paris Review, it was selected for inclusion in the volume Best European Fiction 2013, a collection of the years best short fiction, edited by Aleksandar Hemon.
