Bernardo Atxaga is Eusko Ikaskuntza Visiting Professor of Basque Culture at Stanford University
From March 29th through June 9th, writer Bernardo Atxaga (winner of the Eusko Ikaskuntza-Caja Laboral de Humanidades, Cultura, Artes y Ciencias Sociales prize in 2002) is teaching an undergraduate course as well as a graduate course at Stanford University in the United States as part of the Eusko Ikaskuntza Visiting Professor of Basque Culture program.

Atxaga at the New York PEN Festival
Starting April 26th, the PEN Festival will take place in New York. Bernardo Atxaga is one of the invited authors and will participate in three round tables. He’ll also take part in another event organized by the PEN Club of Minneapolis.

This past weekend the streets of Gothenburg, Sweden, were buzzing from this years annual Book Fair, where Bernardo Atxaga, among other writers, made an appearance.

Bernardo Atxaga at the PEN World Voices festival in New York
Bernardo Atxaga appeared at the recently held PEN World Voices festival, organized by the PEN Club in New York. The week-long festival hosted 160 authors from all over the world, including authors of stature such as Paul Auster and Antonio Tabucchi. Bernardo Atxaga brought the voice of the Basque Country to the festival.

The “Grand Séminaire de Neuchâtel”, which begins on March 23 in Switzerland, will be dedicated to the oeuvre of Bernardo Atxaga.

Launch of Zazpi etxe Frantzian
Last week saw the launch of Bernardo Atxaga’s new novel, Zazpi etxe Frantzian (“Seven Houses in France”), at the Koldo Mitxelena Center in San Sebastián. The novel will be available in Spanish, Catalan and Galician by the end of the month.
